NetMirror runs on Android TV, but since it is not on the Play Store, you will sideload it — and because the app was designed for touchscreens, there are a few TV-specific quirks to know about. This guide covers the Android TV 7.0+ requirement, two reliable install methods (USB and cloud), remote-control navigation, and an honest word on the 4K myth. It also clarifies which TVs are not supported: Samsung Tizen and LG webOS sets have no native app — see Samsung TV and LG TV for those workarounds.
Basics first: the official APK is ~49.1 MB, last modified 2026-07-25, as-checked October 5, 2026. No official version number exists — see our version ledger. This site is independent and unaffiliated with the developer; read the safety review before sideloading.
Requirement: Android TV 7.0 or Newer
NetMirror requires Android TV 7.0 (Nougat) or newer. Practically every Android TV sold in the last several years qualifies — including Sony Bravia Android models, TCL and Hisense Android TVs, Xiaomi Mi TV/Stick, and the Nvidia Shield. To check yours: Settings → Device Preferences → About → Android version.
What does not count as Android TV: Samsung TVs (Tizen OS), LG TVs (webOS), Roku, and Amazon Fire TV (that’s Fire OS — see the Firestick guide). The APK will not install on those platforms, and any site claiming otherwise is wrong.
Method 1: USB Sideload (Most Reliable)
- Get the APK on a USB drive. On your computer or phone, obtain the official APK from the official site (netmirror.gg) and copy it to a FAT32-formatted USB drive. Confirm the file is ~49 MB.
- Install a file manager on the TV. From the Play Store on your Android TV, install a file manager with USB access (e.g., File Commander or X-plore).
- Enable unknown sources. Go to Settings → Security & Restrictions → Unknown Sources, and allow your file manager app to install APKs. (On Android TV 8+, this is per-app like on phones.)
- Plug in the USB and install. Open the file manager, browse to the USB drive, select the APK, and choose Install. Review the permissions screen — network and storage access are expected; SMS, contacts, or device-admin requests mean you do not have the official file.
- Launch it. Sideloaded apps usually appear in Settings → Apps rather than on the home launcher. Consider installing a simple sideload launcher from the Play Store for one-tap access.
Method 2: Cloud Sideload (No USB Needed)
- Upload the APK to cloud storage. Put the official APK (~49 MB) in your Google Drive or Dropbox from your phone or computer.
- Install a cloud-capable file manager on the TV (X-plore and File Commander both support cloud accounts) and sign in to the same account.
- Download the APK to the TV through the file manager, then install it the same way as Method 1 (unknown sources must be enabled for the file manager).
This method is slower than USB but works when your TV’s USB port is awkward to reach or you have no drive handy.
Download NetMirror APKNavigating with a TV Remote
NetMirror is touch-first, so the D-pad experience has rough edges. What works and what to do about the rest:
- D-pad + OK: handles most browsing. Focus indicators can be faint — move deliberately.
- Back button: exits dialogs and the player. In playback, first press shows controls.
- Search fields: the on-screen keyboard works, but slowly. For heavy searching, use the Android TV Remote app on your phone — its keyboard input is far faster.
- Unreachable buttons: a few touch-first UI elements may not take D-pad focus at all. A cheap air-mouse remote or the phone app’s touchpad mode solves these.
- Nvidia Shield users: the Shield’s remote and controller both work; the controller’s trackpad-like input is actually the most comfortable option of the bunch.
The 4K Myth, Busted Honestly
Let us be direct: NetMirror does not support 4K. This is worth a dedicated section because “4K” is one of the most common false claims on NetMirror download pages, and it causes real disappointment on big screens where the difference is visible.
- Streams top out below 4K regardless of your TV, your connection, or any “4K” label a source attaches to a title.
- On a 55″+ TV, expect clean 720p/1080p at best. Sit at a normal viewing distance and it looks fine; it will not match native 4K apps.
- Any download page, “mod,” or settings tweak promising to “unlock 4K” on NetMirror is misinformation or bait for a malicious file.
TV-Specific Troubleshooting
“Parse error” or “App not installed”
The APK didn’t transfer cleanly (re-copy it; verify ~49 MB), your Android TV version is below 7.0, or storage is full. Clear cache from unused apps and retry.
App installs but won’t open / crashes on launch
Force-stop and clear cache (Settings → Apps → NetMirror). If it persists after a clean reinstall from the official source, the build may have a compatibility issue with your specific TV firmware — check our general troubleshooting guide.
Streams buffer on Wi-Fi
TVs often have weaker Wi-Fi than phones. Use 5 GHz if your router supports it, or run Ethernet to the TV — the most reliable fix for buffering on any streaming app. Lower the in-app quality setting as a fallback.
No sound / wrong audio
Try a different title first (source-side audio issues are common). Then check the TV’s audio output settings — passthrough vs. PCM mismatches cause silent playback on some soundbars.
Remote can’t control playback
Media-button mapping varies by remote. The on-screen player controls (via OK button) always work even when dedicated play/pause keys don’t.
Samsung Tizen and LG webOS: Not Supported Natively
To be explicit: the NetMirror APK is an Android package. It cannot install on Samsung’s Tizen OS or LG’s webOS, full stop. Workarounds exist — casting from a phone, an external Android TV stick, or the web version in the TV’s browser — and they are covered in our dedicated Samsung TV guide and LG TV guide. Do not download “NetMirror for Samsung TV” APKs; they are fake by definition.
Method 3: Send Files to TV (Phone to TV, No USB)
If both your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, the free “Send Files to TV” app (available on the Play Store for both Android phones and Android TV) moves the APK wirelessly:
- Install Send Files to TV on both your phone and your Android TV.
- On the phone, open the app, tap Send, and select the official NetMirror APK (~49 MB).
- On the TV, open the app and tap Receive. Accept the transfer.
- Open the received file with your TV’s file manager and install (unknown sources must be enabled for the file manager, as in Method 1).
This is the most convenient method once set up, though the first pairing takes a few minutes.
Recommended Settings After Install
- Display: leave the TV at its native resolution and let the app scale. Forcing odd output modes in TV settings causes more problems than it solves.
- Audio: if you use a soundbar or AV receiver, set the TV’s digital audio output to match what your gear supports; mismatched passthrough settings are the #1 cause of silent playback.
- Unknown sources: after installing, consider disabling the file manager’s install permission again until you next need it — same hygiene as on phones.
- Launcher: install a sideload launcher from the Play Store so NetMirror is one click away instead of buried in Settings → Apps.
- Auto-updates: there is no official auto-update mechanism, so nothing to configure — but also nothing protecting you from fake “update” prompts. Bookmark the version ledger.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install NetMirror directly from the Play Store on Android TV?
No. It is sideload-only on every platform. Any Play Store listing with a similar name is not the real app.
Will NetMirror work on my Sony/TCL/Hisense/Xiaomi TV?
If it runs Android TV 7.0 or newer, yes, via the sideload methods above. Check Settings → About → Android version to confirm.
Does NetMirror support 4K on Android TV?
No — 4K is not supported by the app on any device. Expect up to 1080p.
Why isn’t the app on my home screen after installing?
Android TV’s default launcher hides sideloaded apps. Find it under Settings → Apps, or install a sideload launcher from the Play Store for home-screen access.
Can I update NetMirror on Android TV?
There are no published versions to update to. When our version ledger shows a genuinely changed official file, download it and install over the existing app.
What about Google TV (Chromecast with Google TV)?
Google TV is Android TV under a different launcher, so everything in this guide applies. The one difference: sideloaded apps are even more hidden on Google TV’s home screen — use Settings → Apps → See all apps to find NetMirror, or install a sideload launcher.
Is sideloading safe on a smart TV?
The same sideloading considerations as phones apply — see the safety review. Keep unknown-sources enabled only for your file manager, and get the APK from the official source.
